PAINTING
I am Anthony Jefferson Hanson, a native of Sekondi in the western part of Ghana.
Painting has always been a thing from time of gaining awareness of exactly what's I was up to with the art.
Was born into a home of artists my mom is a seamstress and my big sister an interior decorator I was named after my grandfather a panior of Tech as in today kwame Nkromah University of since and technology.
He was a professor an assistant head master of aggrey memorial zion secondary school where I had my secondary school education.
I can say I was fully supported and encourage by my immediate family or environment I pass through such hand as the late brew riverson. My mom has been the back bone of my arts and my best critic... She use to tire my leg to the table on which she sew and pass to me piece of papers from her patterns and out of boredom I'll draw anything I see passing by her comments will provoke me to do more and it got interesting as others took interest in my craft... From young I've always painted the elite in the society starting from Esther Lily Nkasah then western regional minister... I moved to Accra finally after school in 2011 and the whole Ashenso_gh idea was born.
On the line somewhere within the process I painted Joselyn Dumas as a gift to say thank you for offering me such a platform to sell my self to the public. I posted this painting on my social media page and suddenly I started getting orders from people. I responded to it immediately because painting comes to me with ease. At this point I started appealing to another class of people, my interest was diverting more to the painting than the tattoo.
Due to my relationship I have built with friends in the media, I have been on TV a couple of times doing live paintings and talking about(sharing ideas) paintings and Ghana.
I have painted from pastors to politicians to celebrities and the common Ghanaian who's got love for art.
I painted The Honorable Kennedy Agyapong live on Adom TV, and also The Honorable Allotey Jacobs. Some other people I have painted are His Excellency The President Of The Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, Ex President Jerry Jhon Rawlings, Ex president John Agyakum Kofour, Ex President John Dramani Mahama, Edris Elba the Hollywood actor, the Asante Hene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his late mother Nana Afia kobi Serwaa Ampem II, Nana Asante Bediatuo who invented me to the flagstaff house and many others.
Ashenso is a word in the Twe language which means an indelible Mark that identifies something. I've painted from the first man to the last person in my country if I must say. From the late H.E Jerry John rawlings to the H.E ex president John Mahama and H.E Ex president John Agyakum kufour and the sitting president H.E Nana Akufu Addo. Gratefully I've meet all of them to deliver it in person and took beautiful pictures with them. I've contributed to lots of street art with the motive of beautifying the country and also to throw more light on the art and artist in schools yet to be introduced to a system which doesn't really pay attention to the art something I believe should be part of the foundation of every country.Eventually I moved into UK to broaden my horizon as an artist get introduced to new things as I teach others about mine.
